Just too funny not to share

I can't take credit for this.. it came from "Postcards from yo Momma." Every once in a while there is a doosie! This one was too funny to not share.

I will seek and find you.

I shall take you to bed and have my way with you.
I will make you ache, shake & sweat until you moan & groan.
I will make you beg for mercy, beg for me to stop.
I will exhaust you to the point that you will be relieved when I’m finished with you.
And, when I am finished, you will be weak for days.
All my love,

The Flu

Now get your mind out of the gutter and go get your flu shot!

I just can't stop...

These little pillow cases are addictive and I just can't stop making them.

I sure do hope these will sell at the craft fair at the school. Well actually the last one with the puppies is for Jen and my MIL is buying 3 of them to give as gifts for Christmas. But the rest are up for grabs. My favorite is the retro birdies. If I didn't already have my flamingo one, I'd be keeping it.
I did get a custom order for this ..DSC07409 It's pretty darn big. It's for a friend's daughter to use as a sleepover bag. I also did a little zippered bag DSC07411to match just cause I really like this little girl.
I've also been working on new covers for Jen's couch pillows. I'll have to take pics after I bring them up to her this weekend. The colors are wine and champagne. Pretty cool, huh?

Weeds

Is anyone else out there watching this series? We don't get Showtime so we are a bit behind. So far we've watched the whole first season and we are now on the last half of the second season.

The acting is really good and the story is both funny and disturbing at the same time. In case you haven't heard, it's about a suburban housewife (played by Mary Louise Parker) who looses her husband and starts selling weed to make ends meet. The cast of characters include her loser brother in law who moves in and sponges off her. Her pot head accountant (played brilliantly by Kevin Nealon). Her two sons who are figuring out how she makes her money and going through puberty at the same time. One of the most interesting characters is her frenemy and completely annoying new council woman Celia played by Elizabeth Perkins.
Richard and I are both completely hooked on this series. I guess better hooked on the show than the weed itself.

edited to add: We just watched season 2 finale and just like the rest of the series ~ We really didn't see that coming!

Much to do...nothing to say

It seems a bit odd. I have been super busy it seems ~ not sure doing what. I guess the day to day... PTO, Soccer, cleaning, cooker, sewing, helping with homework. Man that sounds a bit pathetic, doesn't it?
I really just have not had much to write about ~ not sure where my mojo went but I'm looking to get it back.

NateNate is having school issues that we are dealing with. Report cards came out last week. 3 A's, 3 B's and an "F." Yes, I said "F." In Language Arts of all things. It's not that he doesn't understand the work ~ he just decided NOT TO DO IT! Turns out somewhere past his interim grades coming out (where he had all A's & B's) he just quit doing his homework and some of his schoolwork for that matter. I met with his teacher only to find out that there was a really big project that they were working on. The outline was due the previous week and the written report due that day. Well the outline was now a zero since it was due before the grades closed and the written report would be at least a day late. As you can imagine, I was not really happy with him. As a matter of fact he's been grounded indefinitely. No video games, no computer and on and on. Anyway... he's actually doing a bit better. He got his written report in a couple of days late which made it loose points but he had his power point presentation turned in before his due date and because he was ready early he got extra points. So far so good on this grading period. It just drives us nuts cause he is so darn smart... but we are literally pulling him through his classes. So much for me having nothing to say!

IMG_0083Julianne is doing well in school. All A's & B's. Still got an attitude that doesn't quit but we're hopeful it will serve her well in life. She's still the social butterfly ~ flitting from one friend to another and driving her brother completely insane.

Richard is crazy busy with work these days. Working a lot of late nights and even weekends. The good news is he'll take a child or two to work with him on the weekends so he can spend some time with them and I can get a bit of a break.

Me, I've initiated and taken on a huge project with the PTO. It's a "Night of the Arts" at the elementary school. It'll encompass the Art dept(coordinating with a framing company for the kids artwork), the Chorus, Story tellers, Bake Sale, Craft vendors, Make it and Take it projects. I've also got the 6th grade classes collecting wrapping paper, bows, tape & tags and setting up a wrapping station for tips to help offset the cost of their big trip at the end of the year. I'm also using our school ambassadors (safety patrol) as greeters and guides for the art display. Also coordinating the home room moms for the bake sale ~ PHEW. I'm also going to be one of the craft vendors and trying to get stuff done for that.
WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!

Jen and Jeremy ~ well that's a whole nother post and it's coming soon ... I promise!

Trying to make nice with Fall

Okay so even though it's still in the 90's here, I'm gonna pretend it's fall. I've started by putting up the fall stuff in the dining room

And then put some fun fall stuff in the Etsy shop. Here's a sampling but I hope you'll check it out.

I'm even gonna bake pumpkin bread with Jen this weekend (her request since she's coming in to see me). I'll let you know how it turns out.
Actually we are supposed to have a cold front coming through on Friday dropping the temp to the 70's for the weekend. Maybe if I turn the a/c down really low we can pretend it's really fall.

Also note: I've finally gotten the travel pillow cases up in the shop and lowered the price on the children's screen bags!

Where is Fall?

I know it's supposed to be here, but it's 94 out right now and sure doesn't feel like fall is anywhere close to being here. I can't even bring myself to change the decor in my dining room to the fall stuff or put out Halloween decorations. The kids would love to have a pumpkin but it would rot from the heat in just days.
I shouldn't complain really. I got to go for a swim last night around 8:00 pm. I love swimming at night. Julianne sat by the pool and I quizzed her on state capitals while I floated. It was a beautiful night. The moon was just amazing BUT... I do like fall.
It makes me miss living in Raleigh. It's the time of year when I start making soups instead of salads. I get to put away the tank tops and wear 3/4" sleeves and jeans now and then. I like seeing the frost on the cars the first thing in the morning ~ and hot chocolate. I miss hot chocolate. If we still lived in Raleigh we'd be headed up to Blowing Rock in the next couple of weeks to see the changing of the leaves. Stop at a roadside stand for some fresh warm cider. The kids don't remember any of this so I think maybe next year we'll have to make plans to go up there in the fall....
Although Oct/Nov are the best times to go on a cruise to the Bahamas. It's when the rates are the cheapest and the weather is great. Still plenty warm to go snorkeling but the nights on the deck are cool enough to wear a wrap. Man, am I fickle or what. Not really ~ guess I just want it all!
So, where ever you are... what ever fall is like for you ~ I hope you enjoy it.

A plethera of pillows

Guess what I did this weekend? I sewed little mini pillow cases for travel pillows. I will be putting them in the Etsy shop in the next couple of days. In the mean time here are a couple of my favorites...

And of course Julianne's favorite is the one with peace signs Here is Nate's favorite, in honor of Guitar Hero Although this came in a close second And who doesn't love Snoopy, especially pirate snoopy And I need to make more Christmas ones for a craft sale I am doing in December In any case (forgive the pun) I am having a blast making these. I will be selling them for $10.00 each without the pillow or $15.00 with the pillow (plus shipping). I think they make great Christmas presents. As a matter of fact most of the babies in the family got them for Christmas last year. Julianne and I each have one and Jen is now asking for one. I can do custom colors/themes so just let me know if you'd like your very own.
